Benzoyl peroxide supposed to kill P. Acnes, the bacteria that causes acne. However, Drying and peeling of the skin are normal which is upleasant and frastrating for users of BP, it also has high procentage of brake out reactions and many reports of stop working after first few weeks of treatment. Many people have strong allergic reaction to benzoyl peroxide and experience an inflammation of the skin.
Benzoyl peroxide may bleach hair or fabric. So, make sure you have lots and lots of extra shirts, bed sheets and pillowcases...lol

    Salicylic Acid

Salicylic acid is an ingredient used in many over-the-counter acne medications, the list is very long but i will list some of them bellow. It is often found with pads as applicators (such as Stri-dex pads). It is also used to treat other skin disorders including dandruff, psoriasis, calluses, corns, warts, and more. As with BP, the Salicylic Acid is available in prescription and over-the-counter medications, in cream, gel, and wash form.
Here is how it works in very brief form - the Acne is formed when skin cells inside hair follicles shed too fast and clump together, plugging up the follicle and causing a pimple. Salicylic acid helps slow down shedding of the cells inside the follicles, preventing clogging. Salicylic acid also helps break down blackheads and whiteheads.
It is very good anti acne agent, it has very few reports of side effects and can be used for any type of skin, does not stain cloth or hair and has high procentage of positive responses from people who used anti acne products with salycilic acid in it.
