How to treat demodex

Despite the fact that the presence of demodex mites can be found in many people, the development of demodicosis - dermatosis (diseases caused by demodex mites) are only found in very small number of people. According to various studies, the demodex mites start multiply uncontrollable due to several factors, among which: weakened immune system, extended use of chemical creams and ointments with antibiotics and hormones in the ingredients and other factors which can create favorable environment for development and reproduction of demodex mites.

There are many contradictory researches on development and course of treatment of demodicosis. While some sources point out to a direct link of demodex mites and the development of rosacea and acne, others deny this relationship. If you have symptoms similar to demodicosis, you need to get tested. Due to the fact that the signs of demodicosis can be very similar to rosacea, only test can prove the opposite or confirm the diagnosis.

With the positive test result on the demodex mites, treatment is prescribed. The treatment of demodex is complex and consists of topical medications (anti demodex creams) and strengthening of the immune system. While some topical anti demodex creams can quickly kill the mites, the others after a while will fail. The efficacy of topical anti demodex creams are based on the ingredients and the ability to deliver the ingredients deep in the skin pores, where the demodex mites are hiding.

Most anti demodicosis creams and oimtments on the market today consist of chemicals and antibiotics. Besides antibiotics and chemicals, most demodex creams and ointments have other inactive ingredients which block the skin pores decreasing efficacy of such products. Another main problem with treatment of the Demodex mites is that the mites can quickly develop resistance to chemical and hormonal substances which are composed in most prescribed medications. Treatment of demodicosis is a lenghly process and may take long time. Antibiotics and chemicals can only be used for short 2-3 weeks period of time. Longer use of antibiotics and chemicals will have side effects. Therefore, it is very important to treat the demodicosis with natural creams and ointmets which have no side effects and can be used as long as necessary.
